“We won’t back down”; Kapil Sharma’s Canada café vows resilience after gun attack

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe in Surrey faced a shooting, with Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claiming responsibility. The cafe vows resilience against violence.

Kapil Sharma

Comedian Kapil Sharma’s popular eatery, Kap’s Cafe, in Surrey, British Columbia, faced a harrowing incident late Wednesday night when unidentified assailants opened fire at the venue. The café, known for its cosy atmosphere and community-driven ethos, issued a powerful statement on Instagram in the aftermath, vowing not to let violence derail their dream.

“We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversations. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up,” the statement read.

Terrorist Claim Sparks Concern

The shooting, which sent shockwaves across the local community and Kapil’s global fan base, took a sinister turn when Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claimed responsibility.

Laddi, a most-wanted figure on the National Investigation Agency (NIA) list, is linked to the banned group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). His claim has heightened fears about transnational extremist activities targeting Indian-origin businesses abroad.

Standing Strong With the Community

Despite the traumatic episode, Kap’s Cafe expressed gratitude towards well-wishers for their outpouring of support. “This cafe exists because you believed in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community,” the heartfelt message continued.

A Defiant Message of Hope

While investigations are ongoing, Kap’s Cafe remains open and committed to its mission of serving as a beacon of unity and joy. For Kapil Sharma and his team, the attack is not the end; it’s a reminder of the strength that comes from standing together against hate.
