War 2 X review: Jr NTR outshines Hrithik Roshan?
The wait is finally over! Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s much-anticipated spy thriller War 2 has arrived in cinemas, and social media is buzzing with first reactions.
Early viewers of War 2, the sixth instalment in YRF’s Spy Universe, have shared mixed opinions. While some hailed the performances, VFX, and action, calling it a blockbuster, others criticised the storyline as weak.
The Ayan Mukerji directorial, which hit theatres on August 14, saw fans rushing to the first shows. Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their verdict, with several claiming Jr NTR stole the spotlight from Hrithik in key moments.
One user wrote, "A visual spectacle on a massive scale! The VFX are top-notch, creating jaw-dropping action set pieces. #Hrithik delivers charisma and power in every frame, while the #NTRJr oozes menace with a commanding presence. The finale is explosive."
Another posted, "NTR is not second lead he is the main villain and Hrithik is the main hero."
Some Jr NTR fans, however, felt he was underutilised: "HRITHIK owns the film as the main lead, while NTR is pushed into a side role as the villain."
One comment read, "#JrNTR why did you agree to play a side character against the main lead #HrithikRoshan. Anyways, the film is fire and audience is loving #HrithikvsNTR. Love for #NTR."
Praising NTR’s introduction, another wrote, "Show Time #War2, #NTR Entry (fire emoji) Mental mass."
Others praised the ensemble and wrote, "Hrithik Roshan as Kabir = Pure swag & power… Jr. NTR steals scenes with raw intensity… Kiara Advani surprises in a kickass action role. Breathtaking chases, insane VFX & goosebump BGM."
Reportedly, War 2 opened with a global day-one collection of Rs 29 crore-Rs 18 crore from India and Rs 11 crore overseas, clashing at the box office with Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna’s Coolie.
