Wamiqa Gabbi recalls awkward first encounter with Shah Rukh Khan during Baby John muhurat

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi, known for her powerful roles in Modern Love Mumbai, Jubilee, and Charlie Chopra & the Mystery of Solang Valley, is currently promoting her upcoming film Bhool Chuk Maaf, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. During one of the promotional interviews, Gabbi opened up about an awkward yet unforgettable first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan during the muhurat ceremony of her last release, Baby John.

A Career Milestone with Baby John

Baby John, produced by Atlee and directed by Kalees, marked a major step forward in Gabbi’s career. The action-packed film starred Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles and was Atlee’s second Bollywood project after Jawan. During the film’s muhurat ceremony, Shah Rukh Khan—Atlee’s Jawan lead—made a brief visit, creating much excitement on set.

The Unexpectedly Awkward Moment

In a conversation with Mashable India, Gabbi recalled her anticipation of meeting SRK for the first time. She and her brother Hardik were casually joking about what she might say to the superstar if he came to greet her. Hardik quipped, “Nas kaat de” (cut your wrist), prompting laughter between the siblings.

As fate would have it, SRK did approach her before leaving. Nervous but eager, Gabbi told him, “It was so nice meeting you, sir. My brother was suggesting I cut my wrist but obviously I won’t do that.”

The mood shifted immediately. “Everyone went quiet, and SRK simply left,” she said. “After he left, someone from the production team rushed to me and asked, ‘Did you just talk about cutting your wrist?’ I honestly thought SRK would get the humour, but he didn’t.”

Rajkummar Rao Chimes In

Gabbi was joined by her Bhool Chuk Maaf co-star Rajkummar Rao during the interview. Rao shared a much smoother recent encounter with SRK at Farah Khan’s birthday bash. “We spoke about his upcoming film King, Aryan Khan’s new show, and he even said he liked Stree 2,” Rao revealed.

Upcoming Release

Gabbi is now preparing for the release of Bhool Chuk Maaf, set to hit theatres on May 23, 2025. While her encounter with Shah Rukh Khan may not have gone as expected, her career continues to thrive with promising roles and memorable performances.
