The historic Ram Mandir inauguration on January 22 unfolded in Ayodhya in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and several other dignitaries including prominent businessmen, celebrities, and sportspersons of India. From Amitabh Bachchan to the Ambanis, respected people representing India in and around the globe reached Ayodhya for the grand event.

Interestingly, some celebrities and sportspersons couldn’t make it to the auspicious event despite getting invitations. Here’s a glimpse into the list of invited stars who couldn’t grace the Ram Mandir ceremony.

Akshay Kumar: The Khiladi of Bollywood, known for being a strong Modi supporter, was absent from the ceremony. Although he had donated an undisclosed amount for the construction of the Mandir, Akshay was not able to attend the ceremony due to his ongoing shoot in Jordan for his upcoming movie ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.

Sunny Deol: The action star, although being a BJP MP, failed to be among the esteemed guests for the grand event. An introvert and shy person in real life, Sunny did not make it to the event for reasons best known to him.

MS Dhoni: India’s cricket legend MS Dhoni was hugely missed in the grand event. Despite getting an invitation, Dhoni was absent during the inauguration ceremony. Fans and well-wishers were left dejected as everyone had eagerly anticipated the sight of Captain Cool. However, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja along with his wife made their presence felt at the ceremony.

Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma: Anushka could not make it to the event along with her hubby Virat Kohli. It is suspected that the actress missed the grand ceremony due to her rumoured pregnancy. However, fans are elated that at least the two had got an invitation to the event. Similarly, Rohit Sharma who is now on national duty also could not attend the programme.

Mohanlal: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal also received the invitation for the auspicious ceremony. However, the veteran actor preferred to give a miss to the event for personal reasons. However, south superstars Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan were present at the auspicious ceremony. On the other hand, Prabhas remained absent although he has donated a huge amount for the Ram Mandir construction.
