Indian actor Vidyut Jammwal has officially kicked off production on his much-anticipated Hollywood debut in Street Fighter, stepping into the shoes of the iconic fire-spitting yogi, Dhalsim. According to media reports, the filming commenced in Australia in August 2025.

Vidyut Jammwal Goes Global

Street Fighter marks Vidyut Jammwal's entry into the global action space. Jammwal’s casting as Dhalsim, first reported in July, marks a pivotal milestone. Known for his lean, muscular physique and martial arts prowess, he is widely regarded as an ideal choice for the role of the peaceful yet powerful warrior who uses yoga-inspired abilities to stretch his limbs and conjure flames in combat.

His portrayal of Dhalsim is expected to highlight both his physical skill set and his ability to embody spiritual depth, redefining how Indian talent is showcased on the world stage.

The Legendary Role of Dhalsim

Dhalsim, a fan favourite since his introduction in Street Fighter II (1991), is known for his yoga-inspired combat style, stretching abilities, and signature fire-breathing attacks. Jammwal’s casting has been widely praised as a natural fit, given his background in Kalaripayattu and martial arts cinema.

Jammwal, who has headlined Bollywood hits like the Commando series and Khuda Haafiz, took to his Instagram Stories and shared the major update.
