In an old interview, Urfi revealed that she does not believe in Islam as Muslim men want their women to behave in a certain way. They want to control all the women in the community.
She went on to state that she does not believe in Islam due to these very reasons, explaining that the criticism stems from her not conforming to the expectations placed on her as a Muslim woman.
When questioned about interfaith relationships, Urfi made it clear that she would never marry a Muslim man. “I don’t follow any religion, so I don’t care who I fall in love with. We should marry whoever we want to,” she said, firmly standing by her belief in freedom of choice.
Urfi also shared her experiences with religion in her family. She emphasized the importance of personal choice, saying, “My mother is a very religious woman, but she never forced her religion on us. My siblings follow Islam, and I don’t, but they never force it on me. Religion should come from the heart, otherwise, neither you nor Allah would be happy.”
Urfi also revealed that she reads the Bhagavad Gita, expressing an interest in understanding Hinduism more deeply and focusing on its logical aspects.
On the work front, after the success of her reality show Follow Kar Lo Yaar, Urfi was last seen as a mentor in ‘Playground’, a reality web series.
