A 29-year-old television actress has lodged a police complaint against her co-star, accusing him of molesting her at a Holi celebration in Mumbai’s western suburbs on Friday.
The actress alleged that the accused was intoxicated and forcefully applied colour to her despite her resistance. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to a report by The Free Press Journal, the actress stated that her co-actor arrived at the Holi party in an inebriated state and attempted to apply colour to her against her wishes. “He was trying to put colours on me and other women at the party. I did not want to play Holi with him, so I objected and moved away,” she recounted in her statement to the police.
She further detailed how she tried to avoid him but was allegedly pursued. “I went and hid myself behind the panipuri stall on the terrace, but he came after me and tried to put colour on me. I covered my face, but he forcefully grabbed me and put colour on my cheeks and then told me, ‘I love you and will see who saves you from me.’ After this, he touched me inappropriately and put colour on me. I pushed him away. I was mentally shocked and went straight to the washroom,” The Free Press Journal quoted her as saying.
The actress reportedly informed her friends about the incident, after which they confronted the accused. However, he allegedly misbehaved with them as well. Following the incident, she approached the police and filed a First Information Report (FIR) against him.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that a legal notice has been issued to the accused, and statements from other guests at the party are being recorded. The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the event to gather further evidence.
The accused actor has been booked under Section 75(1)(i) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
