Last year many big releases were kept on hold because of Corona lockdown. The moment lockdown norms were relaxed and theaters across India opened there was a rush from moviemakers to announce the release dates of their movies which were put on hold for at least a year or so. So when Sooryavanshi finally hit the theaters and did receive a good response followed by Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise there was a big hope for the makers of RRR, Radhe Shyam, and several other movies.
The promotions were started aggressively and fans were eagerly waiting for their much-awaited movies to hit the theaters. And now once again Corona has turned spoilsport. With the New Delhi government announcing a 100% shutdown for theaters, more states are likely to follow the same route in the days to come as the Corona cases continue to escalate.
Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love. #RRRPostponed #RRRMovie pic.twitter.com/JlYsgNwpUO— RRR Movie (@RRRMovie) January 1, 2022
And that has put Tollywood makers in deep trouble. Already RRR-the magnum opus of Rajamouli has been postponed. Since it is a big-budget movie the makers are not in favour of releasing it on OTT or also during the times when people might think of avoiding the theaters due to the Corona.
Sankranthi and summer are two big seasons for Tollywood movie releases. While Radhe Shyam makers have confirmed that the Prabhas and Pooja Hegde flick will definitely release on 14th January, other big Tollywood movies are scheduled to release in and around February and March 2022.

These include Major, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Major, Ghani, Acharya, Bheemla Nayak, and F3. The third wave of Coronavirus is expected to reach the peak during mid of February and until March and hence the release dates of these movies most probably will have to be postponed.
Now that the release date of RRR has been postponed it is expected that this will also impact the release schedule for all the other Tollywood biggies that were supposed to release around summer 2022. The Tollywood industry currently is in a wait-and-watch situation as RRR has already missed the Sankranthi season and may also lose the Summer release if there is an upsurge in Corona cases.
