  • Makers of TMKOC are trying to find an ideal replacement for Disha Vakani as Daya.
  • Here's why it is next to impossible to replace Disha in the iconic role.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been losing its star actors for the last few years. While most of them like Neha Mehta, Gurucharan Singh or even Ghanashyam Naik have been replaced, they are yet to find a replacement for Disha Vakani who took a maternity break from the show 5 years ago, and now it seems they do not have any plan to return soon.

There have been rumours circulating around for the last few weeks about either Rakhi Vijan or Aishwarya Sakhuja replacing Disha Vakani. But both the actresses have denied being a part of the show. And there is a reason why the makers are unable to find a replacement for Disha.

Impossible to forget Disha as Daya

Disha played the iconic character on Indian television for 8 to 9 years. Her style of acting, Garba dancing, simplicity, and chemistry with Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi are simply unmatched. Any new actress who will be replacing Disha will have to match all the mannerisms, dancing style, that particular way of laughing and saying dialogues, chemistry with Jethalal and so many in-between nuances that have made Dayaben such a popular character.

Another reason why it can be difficult because even though Disha has not been a part of TMKOC for a long time and fans have not seen her in the regular episodes, they regularly watch her in those old TMKOC episodes which are aired on SAB TV all through the day. The old episodes are also aired on Sony Pal. And such is the popularity of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that its fans enjoy watching these episodes in the loop repeatedly on television.

So Disha’s Dayaben continues to be fresh in the minds of the audience. Therefore, for any other actress replacing Disha is going to be a big challenge which is why many professional television actresses have not shown their eagerness to take up the role and continue to legacy of Disha Vakani.
