Despite the controversy surrounding ‘The Kerala Story’ due to its plotline, the film which had theatrical release on May 5, 2023,  has opened to overwhelming response and collected nearly Rs 35 crore in just three days.

According to the latest report, the OTT rights of The Kerala Story too have already been sold to a leading digital streaming platform.

As per a Jagaran report, the OTT rights to The Kerala Story have been bought by Zee5. Reportedly, the film’s digital premiere will be 4-6 weeks after its theatrical release and is expected to make its OTT debut in the third week of June.

However, no official confirmation regarding this has been made by the makers yet.

As per recent reports, The Kerala Story will be making its overseas debut in UK and France on May 12.

The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani are in the main roles.

On the other hand, the film has been witnessing a major uproar in India as the West Bengal govt has banned the movie in the state while Tamil Nadu multiplex owners have also stopped the screening of the movie citing law and order situation.

For the unversed, according to the makers of "The Kerala Story," up to 32,000 girls from Kerala went missing from the state in order to join the terrorist organization ISIS based in Syria.

However, the makers changed the description after a social media controversy following the film's trailer and description. Instead of 32,000, the "modified" update of the "description" on social media now states "three girls."

In the midst of all of this, numerous organisations offered rewards in lakhs and crores to anyone who could back up the claim made in the film about the "original claim of 32,000 girls having gone missing from Kerala."
