  • Wave Cinemas stopped the screening of The Kashmir Files yesterday.
  • Sharing the video Vivek Agnihotri has questioned this action from the leading chain of theaters in India.

The director of The Kashmir Files - Vivek Agnihotri earlier on Saturday shared a tweet showing fighting between security and administrative officials of Wave Cinemas and people. Wave Cinemas is a well-known chain of movie theaters offering services in most of the metropolitan cities in the country. But this is the first time that any theater authorities in India have stopped the audience from entering the theater hall to watch the movie. Importantly, a few have even claimed that they were assaulted for trying to get inside the theater.

Taking serious note of this incident, the director has asked Wave Cinemas on Twitter to explain on what basis they took this action. Replying to this post, a Twitterati has said that they have taken this action based on the order by the court but what is shocking is that they even assaulted a 16-year-old boy and manhandled two girls. The user further added that there was chaos around and all the security was doing was to protect the one person who did the assault.

Another user has questioned whether the court orders are only for Wave Cinemas since other theaters are screening The Kashmir Files. There has been growing demand from the audience that the movie should be dubbed in all Indian languages as the audience from the South also want to see this movie which is based on the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits 32 years ago. A few also have suggested that it should also be dubbed in English and released on OTT platforms so that people all over the world can see exactly how the Kashmiri Pandits suffered.

Some of the live reactions from the audience who watched The Kashmir Files are indicative that the Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty-starred movie is very much different from the regular run-of-the-mill Bollywood masala film. Rather many people have demanded that everyone should see the movie and it should be made tax-free.
