The Greatest Of All Time Trailer: 'GOAT' Thalapathy Vijay Promises a Perfect Parting Gift with a Time-Travel Saga

The much-awaited official trailer of Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time dropped today on August 17 (Saturday). Fans are enthralled with their matinee idol's high-end action sequences. The time-travel saga stars Vijay in dual roles, and the actions in both his avatars are a treat to watch. The excitement among fans for the trailer is quite evident as social media is getting flooded with short clips and stills from the trailer.

The trailer offers a fresh perspective into the thrilling action-packed movie and reveals that Vijay is portraying dual roles in the film, one as a middle-aged person with specs and another as a young character. Though it is hard to reveal from the trailer, it is shown that they are father and son. However, a few others opined that as it is a time-travel saga, possibly an older Vijay travels back in time or to another dimension to save the younger Vijay. Well, the trailer also hints at the possibility of more versions of Vijay and fans seem to be quite excited to uncover the surprises. 

The trailer of 2.51 minutes duration introduces Vijay as a hostage negotiator, field agent and spy who has carried out 68 operations successfully in his career. He is also called by his colleague as 'The GOAT of SATS'. Next, his identity is revealed as Gandhi and his pregnant wife, Sneha, suspect his husband of having affairs while Vijay is seen having fun being drunk. 

Things go haywire when he takes his family to Bangkok. Next, younger Vijay is seen telling an older Vijay, "No father, you're in danger."

Sharing the trailer on X (formerly Twitter) the director wrote, “Presenting my hero THE @actorvijay na the way you have been longing to see for ages! Here is #TheGoatTrailer like never before.” (sic)

While fans are busy deciding the trailer and the unsolved mysteries, a fan wrote that Vijay is potentially playing a triple role with a reference to MS Dhoni. Meanwhile, another fan noticed that the “Hindi trailer had something extra” which ended with Vijay humming the James Bond tune, a scene missing from the Tamil and Telugu trailers of the film.

Well, all fans will get the answers to all these mysteries after the film hits the theatres on September 5, 2024. The movie also stars Prabhu Deva, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Laila, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren and Yugendran.

While reports have been abuzz that 'The GOAT' is the last movie of Thalapathy Vijay as he has already stepped into active politics with his new political party, the Tamil superstar promises a perfect parting gift to his fans. If Vijay retires from his acting career, this movie would 'rake in the moolah' and break several box office records set earlier in the Indian cinema industry.
