The Family Man Season 2 release seems to be in danger after a section of social media users raised objections against the portrayal of Tamilians in the web series.

The Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni-starrer show, trailer of which was recently launched after much delay, has landed itself in controversy as a section of netizens have accused the makers of the series for depicting Tamils in a bad light and labelled the series as ‘anti-Tamil’ and have called a ban on the show.

In the trailer, Manoj Bajpayee’s character meet his nemesis Samantha, who portrays a fictional extremist leader and was seen wearing the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) uniform and the dialogues also say that there is a hostage situation in Chennai.

Soon after the release of The Family Man 2 trailer, a section of Tamilians took to social media platforms to share that they feel the series is projecting them as terrorists. Few Twitterati also said that series is trying to belittle the Tamilians’ struggle for their civil rights by labeling them terrorists.

Some of the netizens have also raised objection against Samantha’s portrayal of the character Raji who seems to ready to kill anyone who comes in her way in the show and abused her for playing a terrorist in the film.

Hashtags such as #FamilyMan2_against_Tamils and #ShameOnYouSamantha began trending on Twitter following the Family Man 2 trailer launch.

It seems Amazon Prime Video does not want The Family Man 2 to be marred by the controversies like its previous series, Tandav and Mirzapur, so the platform have reportedly made some changes in the trailer and released slightly different version of the original trailer which was launched on May 19.

In the new trailer, the objectionable word, ‘Tamil rebels’ has been deleted and replaced with ‘the rebels’. However, not many noticed this change as there has been no official statement regarding the same has been issued.

Amid the controversies and the demand to ban the show, The Family Man 2 will premiere on June 4. The series also stars Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Seema Biswas, Darshan Kumar, Sharad Kelkar, Sunny Hinduja, Shreya Dhanwantary, Shahab Ali, Vedant Sinha, and Mahek Thakur in pivotal roles.
