Thalaivar Vs Thalapathy! Rajinikanth and Vijay to clash for the first time?

Thalapathy Vijay is riding high on the mammoth success of The GOAT (Greatest of All Time). Within 13 days of its release, the total worldwide box office collection has crossed Rs 400 crore mark. Helmed by Venkat Prabhu, the film features Vijay in a double role. Now, all eyes are on Thalapathy 69, Vijay's last film. While the official announcement has already been made by KVN Productions, the excitement level among fans has elevated for H Vinoth's directorial. The movie is slated for release in October 2025, during the Dussehra festivity. However, recent reports suggest that for the first time ever, Thalapathy will clash with Thalaivar Rajinikanth, as the latter's movie Jailer 2 is also scheduled for release in October 2025.

Notably, Thalapathy 69 will be Vijay's last film. The yet-to-be-titled movie is produced by KVN Productions and directed by H Vinoth. The filming of the movie is expected to conclude in the summer as Vijay will focus on his political endeavours. The social-drama-infused action film would definitely be a treat to watch.

On the other hand, Thalaivar Rajinikanth is currently prepping for Vettaiyan's release. The highly anticipated movie, helmed by TJ Gnanavel is slated for pan-India release on October 10, 2024. A massive pre-release event is scheduled for September 20. Moviegoers are quite excited for the movie as they will get to see the much-awaited collaboration of Amitabh Bachchan with Rajinikanth, after years. Moreover, the stellar cast also includes Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Fassil, Manju Warrier and Ritika Singh in pivotal roles.

Next, Rajinikanth has Coolie, which is scheduled to hit the theatres in mid-2025. Written and helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj and Soubin Shahir in key roles. The shooting of the movie is in full swing with the target of releasing it in June 2025.

After wrapping up Coolie, Thalaivar Rajinikanth will start Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson. As per the latest reports, the scripting is complete and the makers are waiting for Rajinikanth's availability. 

Both Rajinikanth and Vijay are the two biggest stars of Tamil Film Industry and the duo boasts a huge fandom. As both Thalapathy 69 and Jailer 2 will likely be released in October 2025, it will be a historic box office clash that the Indian film industry has ever witnessed. While makers avoid releasing movies of big stars at the same time, 2025 will witness 'Thalaivar Vs. Thalapathy' for the first time. However, fans need to wait for more official updates.
