Ranveer Allahbadia
YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has finally addressed the massive backlash surrounding his controversial remarks on India’s Got Latent.
Over a month after the uproar, he returned with a new podcast episode on his YouTube channel, where he spoke about facing an unexpected challenge and how it helped him differentiate between true and false companions.
In the latest episode featuring Buddhist monk Palga Rinpoche, Ranveer opened up about the emotional and professional toll the controversy took on him.
“Aksar jab aisi cheezein hoti hain zindagi main toh logo ke asli characters dikh jaate hain… (Often, when such things happen in life, people’s true characters come to light),” he said. He explained that while many revealed their negative sides, he also discovered the genuine support of close friends and mentors, including some who reached out despite never having met him personally.
He further reflected on the different advice he received during this phase: “Some people suggested I take a break for a year or two and reflect, as they believe my downfall was a result of a long-term series of mistakes. But I personally feel that just as I reached this point through hard work and action, the way out of this situation will also be through effort and perseverance.”
Ranveer found himself at the centre of a legal and social media storm following an episode of India’s Got Latent, where he posed an offensive question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”
While fellow panellists Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani laughed off the comment, it quickly sparked outrage online.
Public backlash led to multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) being filed against Ranveer and the show’s producers. The situation escalated further when the National Commission for Women (NCW) intervened, compelling Ranveer to submit a written apology.
Following the controversy, the Supreme Court granted Ranveer interim protection from arrest. However, the court strongly condemned his remarks, calling them “vulgar” and accusing him of having a “dirty mind” that was “shaming society.”
