Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most talked about sitcoms of Indian Television. Actress Munmun Dutta who portrayed Babita Iyer and Raj Anadkat who plays the role of Tipendra Jethalal Gada in the show, were rumoured to be dating. On Wednesday, reports surfaced that the duo got engaged in a private ceremony in Vadodara recently. However, the actors duo has once again termed the reports as 'baseless'.

As per a report in News 18, Munmun and Raj exchanged rings in the presence of their families. The report quoted a close source to the development as saying, "The engagement took place just a few days back. The two apparently exchanged rings in Vadodara (Gujarat). Munmun and Raj’s families have accepted their relationship and they were also present at the ceremony.”

Further, the source added, "They have been dating ever since Raj joined Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It was very evident. Everyone on the sets knew about it. In fact, some people were certain that Munmun and Raj would get married eventually. Therefore, it is not shocking that they are engaged now.”

The rumour spread like a wildfire prompting the actors to issue a clarification.

ETimes reached out to Munmun to unearth the truth behind the report. Reacting to the queries, Munmun replied, "This is news is RIDICULOUS, Fake and LUDICROUS. Zero ounce of truth in it...And frankly, I don't want to give my energy to this fake thing that keeps coming up again and again."

On the other hand, Raj's team took to Instagram stories and wrote, "Hello everyone, just to clear things up. The news you've been seeing on social media is false & baseless. Team Raj Anadkat."

Notably, reacting to their dating rumours in 2021, Munmun and Raj reacted individually on their Instagram. Raj wrote, "To everyone, who has been constantly writing about me, THINK of the repercussions that can happen in my life because of your ‘COOKED UP’ (false) stories and that too about my life without my consent. All the creative people out there please channelise your creativity somewhere else it will be helpful to you. May God bless them with good sense.”

Rubbishing the rumours, Munmun wrote, “13 years of entertaining people and it didn't take 13 minutes for anyone of you to rip my dignity apart. So next time someone is clinically depressed or driven to take their own lives, pause and think whether it was YOUR WORDS that drove that person to the edge or not. Today, I am ashamed of calling myself a daughter of India."

Now that both the actors have cleared the air, the rumours will be put to rest.
