Following the success of the gritty family-crime-thriller Aarya, Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen is gearing up to essay transgender activist Gauri Sawant in a six-episode-drama series.

Sushmita forayed into the digital world with the web series Aarya and her acting won the hearts of the fans across the globe. That’s not all. She also bagged the International Association of Working Women Award for her outstanding performance in the web series. Having said that, Susmita is now flooded with offers.

Recently, it was announced that the actress has signed another web series in which she will be seen playing transgender activist Gauri Sawant.

Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist who founded the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust in 2000. The NGO provides counselling to transgender people and promotes safe sex.

According to a source close to the production house, the six-episode show will chronicle Gauri’s life, including her journey, struggles, and obstacles in becoming India’s first transgender mother. Besides, the web-series will highlight Gauri Sawant’s precious bond with her adopted child, Gayatri.

According to a report by PeepingMoon, Sushmita loved the character of Gauri, a courageous, warm-hearted, strong-willed woman who fought against all odds for the transgender community of India.

The web series will hit the floor by November end. She will then embark on shooting the third season of Aarya early next year.

The web series is being produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartik D Nishandar under Global Sports Entertainment and Media Solutions.
