The main role in a movie is played by the director, who acts as the soul by single-handedly managing all aspects of filming by keeping the crew together. Directors may not get colossal fame or recognition as the actors but their hard work reflects in the movies. And, same is the case for veteran film director Steven Spielberg.
Born on December 18, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Spielberg has ruled Hollywood for more than five decades and is widely considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
Three times Oscar winning Spielberg is known for his diverse interest and for experimenting with different genres, from horror movies such as Poltergeist (1982) to the science fiction movie series Jurassic Park (1993-2022), his role as director remains unmatched.
Spielberg is the brain behind the world-famous Indiana Jones movie series which gave veteran actor Amrish Puri, global exposure as an actor who is known for playing villainous characters. Puri who initially declined for acting in the movie’s second instalment ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom agreed after interacting with the crew and the director.

The film was a huge commercial success and earned more than 300 million dollars at the box office but was also heavily criticized for a fictitious presentation of Indian culture and cuisines.
The film was banned by the government to be released in the open theatres and was released in video cassettes later. Actor Amrish Puri and his character as Mola Ram, a Thuggee high priest was heavily criticized by the Indian audience. The actor was even termed as anti-national by some groups.
Despite all controversies, Spielberg’s direction was highly appreciated and the film also bagged an Academy Award for Best Visual Effect.
Spielberg’s experiment with Dinosaurs:
Spielberg is widely acclaimed for innovations in film making has tried hands-on almost all genres of movies one out of which the Jurassic Park series has acquired a great fan following.
Jurassic Park was based on a novel written with the same title by Michael Crichton. The film enjoyed huge commercial success and went on to become the highest-grossing movie of all time during its release. The film earned a humongous return of more than 1.4 billion dollars over its budget of 63 million dollars.
The Jurassic Park series with followed by five sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World Dominion (2022) went on to become one of the dominating movie series of all time.
