SSMB29: Nana Patekar turns down SS Rajamouli's offer! Is THIS Tamil superstar coming on board with Mahesh Babu?
Ace South filmmaker SS Rajamouli's upcoming action-adventure SSMB29 (working title) is one of the highly-anticipated flicks. Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, the movie is currently in production phase. While an official announcement regarding the cast is to be made, reports suggest that a prominent Bollywood actor has turned down Rajamouli's offer.
According to the latest report by News 18, SS Rajamouli considered Nana Patekar for the role of Mahesh Babu's father. Reportedly, he visited the veteran actor at his farmhouse in Pune to narrate the script personally. However, the Housefull 5 actor politely turned down the offer as he found the role unappealing.
Reportedly, Rajamouli and Nana engaged in deep discussions about his role in SSMB29. Despite being offered a massive pay of Rs 20 crore for just 15 days of shooting, Nana was firm in his decision and said that it wasn't a project he wanted to pursue at this time. However, the veteran actor expressed his interest in working on Rajamouli's future project.
According to current reports, SSMB29 is undergoing a break from its shooting schedule. The team expects to return to the floors in early June. Meanwhile, the production team is in rest mode and awaiting the resumption of the shoot.
Amid this, reports have resurfaced that Rajamouli is planning to rope in Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram in a powerful role.
Reportedly, Rajamouli spoke to Vikram about a substantial role in the film. However, nothing has been finalised yet. A source close to the development shared with a local news portal that the Baahubali maker is looking for someone who can match the stature and popularity of Mahesh Babu and Vikram with his exceptional talent and massive fan base, which fits the bill perfectly.
The source was quoted as saying, "Vikram is no stranger to Telugu audiences, thanks to blockbuster films like Aparichitudu, I, and Ponniyin Selvan. His pan-Indian appeal and strong fan following—especially among Tamil audiences worldwide—make him an ideal addition.”
Further, he added that if the deal goes through, watching Mahesh Babu and Vikram together onscreen would be a cinematic treat. The only hurdle left is finalising the terms as the Tamil superstar's last release Veera Dheera Sooran 2 had an average box office run.
