Shaktimaan movie: 'Poor Ranveer Singh persuaded to play superhero', Mukesh Khanna breaks silence
Shaktimaan movie is the highly-anticipated superhero flick that fans are eagerly waiting for. A couple of months ago, rumours were abuzz that Ranveer Singh was being considered to play the superhero's role, however, OG Shaktimaan refuted the rumours. Later, the buzz was fueled after the 'Gully Boy' actor visited the Bheeshm International office and had a conversation for long hours. But, Khanna again doused the flames of speculations. Then, the veteran actor preferred to remain silent about Ranveer's visit. However, recently he broke his long-time silence.
During a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, Khanna cleared the air that Ranveer's nude photoshoot is one of the factors contributing to his aversion to casting him.
Khanna was asked about his meeting with Ranveer and why he doesn't think the actor is suitable for the role. To this, the veteran actor replied, “I don't take names as I am not supposed to criticise any actor. People get offended. But now everyone knows that Ranveer Singh came to convince me. I can't hide it that I had called him a ‘terrific actor’ and praised his ‘energy’."
Further, he went on to add, "People started posting pictures on social media as if Ranveer had been finalised to play Shaktimaan. Since I hadn't taken a call on it as I have a contract with Sony, I posted a video where I said, I have not said anything about the lead actor so please wait for some time.”
"That poor guy (Ranveer) was sitting in front of me for three hours. But it doesn't reflect on his face, what it needs to play Shaktimaan. He looks fickle as if he will con somebody," he added.
He again praised Ranveer as a 'terrific actor' and stated that nobody in the industry is as energetic as him. However, he clarified that he hasn't approved him to play Shaktimaan's role.
"He must have felt bad. However, in the industry, it is the producer who casts the actor not the other way round," Khanna added.
While Mukesh Khanna's Bheeshm International joined hands with Sony Pictures International Productions for the film adaptation of the popular superhero TV show, the makers haven't shared any updates yet. Meanwhile, fans are impatient to see their favourite Indian superhero on the big screen.
