Shahid Kapoor & Kareena Kapoor's kissing pics: Actor breaks silence, admits to getting 'destroyed'

Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor headlined in 2004 after a picture of the then-lovebirds kissing went viral. The lovebirds were snapped at a Mumbai nightclub while kissing. The next morning, the picture was published in a newspaper and instantly became the talk of the town.

Almost everyone was well aware of the lovebirds and their serious relationship. But, reportedly, the duo called it quits in 2006 that ended a fairy-tale love story after a relationship of five years.

Now, after several years, the Kabir Singh actor has broken his silence about the kissing picture going viral. He also admitted how it affected him.

During an interview with Mid Day, Shahid opened up that he was just 24 at the time and he felt that his privacy had been invaded. And, there was nothing he could do to protect it. He also said that he was ‘destroyed’ back then.

Shahid was quoted as saying, “I was destroyed at that time. I was just a 24-year-old kid and I felt my privacy had been invaded and I could do nothing to protect it. I was a mess, I was like, yeh kya ho gaya (What has happened) and what is going on and of course, it affects you a lot.”

Further, he went on to say that especially at that age, when someone is figuring out their own feelings and figuring out dating, and in the middle of everything, something like this happens.

When asked how things have changed considering the presence of social media and current paparazzi culture, the Padmaavat actor said, "I think now you are aware that it is 100% going to happen. At that time, we were caught off guard by it... So, it is like an informed devil as opposed to an uninformed devil scenario. You at least know, yeh toh hone wala hai (this is going to happen). Also ab toh meri shaadi ho gayi hai, bachche ho gaye hain (Also now I am married, and have kids). Nobody is interested in those things about me. They have other 24-year-olds to focus on."

Currently, both Shahid and Kareena have moved on in life with their respective spouses and are blessed with kids.
