Not Shah Rukh Khan, THIS cameo actor was Farhan Akhtar's first choice for 'Don'!

Farhan Akhtar's announcement of Don 3 filled excitement among moviegoers. While were eagerly waiting to see Shah Rukh Khan reprising his role in the third instalment, the announcement of Ranveer Singh replacing King Khan didn't go well with fans. The announcement sparked an outrage among several movie lovers and they claimed that the third instalment would be a disaster. However, fans of the Padmaavat actor are hopeful that Ranveer will captivate the audience and spread his magic. But did you know that even Shah Rukh Khan was not Farhan Akhtar's first choice for the titular role in his Don series? 

Farhan's first choice for the role is his dear friend. This friend even had a cameo in Don 2: The King Is Back. He is none other than the handsome hunk Hrithik Roshan.

Farhan Akhtar came up with Don Reboot series, 'Don: The Chase Begins' (2006) and 'Don 2: The King Is Back' (2011). However, before locking the Jawan actor, Farhan had promised Hrithik Roshan about the film. 

During a recent conversation on Raj Shamani podcast, the 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' revealed that he had an 'incredible' and 'wonderful' time working with Hrithik in Lakshya. Though Lakshya's debacle was disheartening for the filmmaker, he was quite happy with Duggu. Following that he reached out to the Krrish actor and shared his plans of remaking Amitabh Bachchan's classic Don. Even Duggu found his friend's idea 'amazing' and appreciated it. 

During the podcast, Farhan recalled that he told Hrithik that he would bring the script after finishing writing it. However, the filmmaker said that while writing the script he could only think of Shah Rukh Khan as the perfect choice for the role. 

"When I was writing, the only person whose face is popping into my head is Shah Rukh, from what I knew him," said Farhan while highlighting SRK's personal image and not his 'actor image'. 

It was Shah Rukh's wit, sarcastic, and self-deprecating sense of humour that made him think of him as the 'best actor' for the role, asserted Farhan.

As Farhan had already promised Hrithik about the film, he opted to inform him first about his choice. 

"I'll never forget, he said, ‘Farhan, you’ve to make your film, and in the best way possible. If you think he's the guy, please go ahead and call him. Don't worry about me.' That is a very gracious thing," recalled Farhan.
