Karan Johar confirmed that his close friend, superstar Shah Rukh Khan, will not be making an appearance in the ongoing season of the widely watched celebrity chat show, Koffee with Karan Season 8. Shah Rukh, who was a regular on the show in the past, has been absent from the recent seasons.

Karan Johar, speaking at an event related to Koffee With Karan in Mumbai, expressed understanding and respect for Shah Rukh Khan's decision. As a close friend and family member, Johar acknowledged that Shah Rukh has earned the right to choose when and where he wants to speak. "I just know if there is any megastar who has earned his right to speak when he needs to, it is Shah Rukh Khan," Johar was quoted saying in a report by HT.

The filmmaker emphasised the strong bond they share, mentioning that he hasn't formally asked Shah Rukh to appear on the show recently, as he is aware of the actor's reluctance to be in a situation where he has to say no.

Karan Johar expressed confidence that when the time is right, Shah Rukh will join the show again, and it will be an extraordinary appearance, noting that "nobody gives interviews better than Shah Rukh Khan."

Karan Johar, who revealed he speaks with Shah Rukh every other day, assured that despite his absence on the show, he does not miss his friend as they have regular interactions. He added, "I don't miss him that way, because I have 'Koffee with Karan' with him every night. Almost every evening, Shah Rukh, Gauri (Khan, wife), his family and I meet."

Shah Rukh Khan has notably refrained from giving traditional media interviews for the past four years, limiting his interactions to promotional events and social media sessions.
