Shah Rukh, Virat Kohli, and Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan surpassed star cricketer Virat Kohli in tax contributions 2024-25, paying Rs 92 crore compared to Kohli’s Rs 66 crore. However, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan outperformed both, topping the list with a staggering Rs 120 crore paid in taxes, according to reports by Fortune India.
The 82-year-old legend, Amitabh Bachchan, once again cemented his status as India’s highest taxpayer among celebrities, with earnings of Rs 350 crore this fiscal year. Notably, his income streams include films like ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, ad endorsements, and hosting ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Online media reports also mentioned that a March 2025 advance tax payment of Rs 52.5 crore marked his final instalment.
Shah Rukh Khan ranked second and saw his earnings surge after 2023’s blockbusters ‘Pathaan’, ‘Jawan’, and ‘Dunki’. Meanwhile, Tamil superstar Vijay claimed third place with Rs 80 crore in taxes while Salman Khan paid Rs 75 crore. Kohli was the sole athlete in the top five of the list.

Ajay Devgn (Rs 42 crore), MS Dhoni (Rs 38 crore), and Ranbir Kapoor (Rs 36 crore) secured spots six to eight. Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar tied at Rs 28 crore. Comedian Kapil Sharma (Rs 26 crore), cricket icon Sourav Ganguly (Rs 23 crore), and actors Kareena Kapoor (Rs 20 crore), Shahid Kapoor (Rs 14 crore), and Kiara Advani (Rs 12 crore) also featured.
South Indian stars Mohanlal and Allu Arjun contributed Rs 14 crore each while actors Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif paid Rs 11 crore. Aamir Khan, despite a career slowdown, paid Rs 10 crore.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming projects, including ‘Section 84’ ensure sustained revenue. SRK, in the meantime, gears up for ‘King’, while Salman’s ‘Sikandar’ targets a 2025 Eid release, marking the list of upcoming highly anticipated releases.
