  • Kajol is gearing up for the release of her much-awaited show The Trial.
  • in a recent interview, the actress said that we are being ruled by leaders who do not have an educational background.

Kajol’s The Lust Stories 2 was released recently on the OTT platform and next she is gearing up for the release of her much-awaited show The Trial. It is a courtroom drama series helmed by Suparn Verma and also starring Jisshu Sengupta. Reportedly, it is based on the famous Michelle King and Robert King series titled The Good Wife.

During one of her interviews for the promotion of The Trial, the Baazigar actress said something quite sneaky that has raised many eyebrows.

Since The Trial focuses on woman’s empowerment, the topic of discussion during the interview was also the same as how society snubs women and should support them for empowerment.

When asked how she manages her comebacks, Kajol said that she does not believe in comebacks and just because she did not do movies for two years does not mean that she has not been working during that time. Rather when she goes out for work it is her biggest break.

According to her, “The biggest detriment in woman’s empowerment is women themselves and since as women we produce and raise children we must raise our daughters and sons in a way that they are not bothered by societal opinions.”

At this very juncture when the discussion moved to how things related to woman empowerment are slow to happen in India because the country is steeped in tradition, Kajol made a controversial remark saying, “It has to do with education. We have political leaders who do not have an educational background. You are being ruled by leaders who do not have that viewpoint and education does give you that.”

Now that has not gone well with many social media users who have pointed out that Kajol herself is a school dropout and left her high school halfway to pursue a career in acting. That is why this remark coming from someone who stands in the same line as politicians without any educational background is not justified, said netizens.

On the other hand, a few opined that if people listen to speeches of any leaders nowadays, they are very bad and that is why what Kajol has said is correct.

However, later in the day, the Lust Stories 2 actress clarified her statement on 'uneducated leaders'. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, "I was merely making a point about education and its importance. My intention was not to demean any political leaders, we have some great leaders who are guiding the country on the right path."

Kajol's clarification comes after she got brutally trolled for her statement.
