Oo Antava proved to be a milestone in Samantha’s career graph as it represented her in a never-seen avatar, and the song became a rage across the nation. However, recently Sam opened up on why she chose to do the item song and how she was shaking in fear on the first day of the shoot.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2024, Sam revealed what prompted her to take up the song. She said that the decision to do Oo Antava came from the place where I had to explore that facet of being an actor and also wanted to share the message that one should move past judging women who want to look good.

“I think the decision to do Oo Antava was similar to doing Raji (her character in The Family Man 2. I think the good side of not having too many people around you, no people in your ear putting their opinions that you need to cater to. This is the good side. The flip side is, that I need to make mistakes, learn from them and own my gut instincts.

The decision to do Oo Antava came from the place where I had to explore that facet of being an actor. I have always been very uncomfortable with my sexuality. I am not very comfortable or confident. I have always operated from a place like ‘I am not good enough, I don’t feel pretty, I don’t look like the other girls,” Sam was quoted saying.

“I think that, for me, it was the lyrics. It was a challenge. And I think we can move past judging women for wanting to look good. We can do everything. We can look good,” she further added.

She also revealed that she was "shaking" during the first shot, “So for me, it was a huge challenge. It was the first shot of Oo Antava… I was shaking from fear because sexy is not my thing. It's not my thing. But how I've grown both as an actor and as a person is I've always made sure that I put myself in the most uncomfortable, unforgiving, very difficult circumstances.”

On being asked if she would do a dance number again, Sam responded, “No, I don't see the challenge in it anymore.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Samantha was last seen in Khusi opposite Vijay Deverakonda She will next be seen in the Indian spin-off of the American TV series 'Citadel'. It also stars Varun Dhawan, Sikandar Kher, Kay Kay Menon and Saqib Saleem.
