Salman Khan's Sikandar is not a flop despite low numbers; here’s why!

Salman Khan has received a lot of bashing from both his fans and critics for Sikandar. Neither his fans nor the trade analysts are happy with the way this AR Murugadoss movie has shaped with many die-hard Bhaijan fans urging the superstar to stop doing bad quality movies. If compared with Animal or Gadar 2, or with other Salman Khan movies like Tiger Zinda Hai or Sultan, Sikandar stands nowhere near in the collection.

However, when compared with other average movies, Sikandar cannot be said to be a flop film.

Salman Khan’s Sikandar is way behind Chhaava, Stree 2, Animal

Sikandar earned around 26 crore on its release day which is very low as compared to Salman Khan’s Bharat which opened with a 42 crore figure in 2019. Surprisingly, Race 3, the weakest release of Bhaijan also collected 29 crore on its opening day where it is only Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan that recorded the lowest collection of 13 crore on its release day.

So, Sikandar is not the worst movie of Salman Khan although it is also not the topmost. After a week’s release the movie earned 187 crore worldwide whereas other superhit blockbusters like Chhaava earned 307 crore and even during the weekdays did not see any drop in the number of audience. Movies like Stree 2 and Animal grossed 388 crores and 563 crore worldwide respectively led by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan which did a record-shattering collection earning 600 worldwide in its first week.

In comparison, Sikandar is way behind, no doubt about that.

Salman Khan’s Sikandar will meet breakeven despite low numbers

Despite these low numbers this Salman Khan movie is still expected to meet the breakeven. According to trade analysts since nowadays superstars do not take salaries but pay cheques based on collection from theatre, satellite, and distribution rights, no superstar movie is a flop. That is how the budget of the movie comes down and makers can recover the investment with digital rights ensuring that the movie earns at least a bit of profit.

So even with Sikandar, the distributors are not going to get hit as Salman Khan will have to bear the brunt and receive less remuneration since the movie has not earned as expected. Nevertheless, Salman Khan is going to be in a huge loss which is certainly disappointing.
