Movies of Salman Khan That Bombed at the Box Office

Salman Khan has numerous blockbusters to his name. However, several movies of Bhaijaan had poor box office performances. Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan, Yuvvraaj, Antim, Tubelight, God Tussi Great Ho, Veer, Radhe, Kyon Ki, Marigold, Salam-e-Ishq, etc. poorly performed at the box office.

Salman's 'Biggest Flop'  Marigold

While many of the considered flops had a good box office collection, Marigold is reportedly regarded as the biggest flop in Salman's career.

2007's Marigold, a musical romantic comedy, received poor reviews from critics. Critics opined that the movie was poorly made.

The movie helmed by Willard Carroll starred Salman Khan and American actress Ali Larter. Despite the Hollywood connection, the movie massively bombed at the box office.

Notably, Sallu's craze of the 90s faded in early 2000. It was then that Salman experimented with the international bilingual film Marigold. The movie was released on August 17, 2007. The musical flick was made on a budget of Rs 19 crore. However, the movie failed at the box office. On its opening day, Marigold collected Rs 21 lakh and its lifetime collections were Rs 1.27 crore (domestic) including the overseas earnings, the worldwide collection went just above Rs 2 crore. 

Apart from the bad reviews of the critics, Shah Rukh Khan's Chak De! India took a toll on it.

Actress Ali Larter was well-known in Hollywood. He had played supporting roles in Legally Blonde and Final Destination. After Marigold, Larter got her Hollywood breakthrough with Resident Evil: Extinction. Later, on she worked in the sequels of the franchise. However, she never worked in a Bollywood film after Marigold.

Similarly, before coming to India, Willard Carroll was an established American filmmaker. He had made movies like The Runestone, Playing by Heart, and Tom's Midnight Garden. However, after the box office failure of Marigold, Carroll ended his filmmaking career. He even stopped producing and writing movies.
