Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, how it all began! Old audition clip surfaces online, watch

Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr is synonymous with his iconic superhero character Iron Man aka Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)'s Avengers franchise. Downey has become a household name with his iconic character portrayals and these remain the most revered characters of the MCU. However, it was disheartening for the fans as the curtains were brought down on Iron Man aka Tony Stark's character. While Downey's comeback in the MCU as Dr Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, fans will certainly miss their beloved Iron Man aka Tony Stark.

Meanwhile, an old video clip has gone viral that shows how it all began for Downey as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. The old throwback clip is Downey's audition as Tony Stark. 

The audition clip shows Downey as Stark having a conversation with a journalist. In another clip, Downey is seen enjoying and having a good time with his co-actors. Downey laughs as he delivers his dialogue. In the last clip, Stark is seen in an intense conversation with James Rhodes. 

While a small clip is shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Historic Vids, another lengthy clip is shared on X by Gossip Girl.

Well, the video has elated fans and praises are flooding for Downey as he effortlessly pulls his character and delivers his dialogue in the behind-the-scenes footage.

Praising Downey, a fan wrote, "I would have hired him as the director in a heartbeat. Outstanding delivering in that audition, mannerism, and voice texture to feel. He was truly meant to play iron-man." (sic)

Another wrote, "Was there really anyone else that could have pulled this role off any better." (sic)

Well, now that MCU has ended Iron Man and Rony Stark's journey in Avengers, Downey is back to the franchise, however, in a dark character. The Russo Brothers have cast Downey as Dr Doom, the antagonist in Avengers: Doomsday. Undeniably, with his impeccable performance, Downey will again win the hearts of moviegoers with his villainous character in the superhero action-thriller. As per reports, the movie will go on the floors in the second quarter of 2025 in London and it is scheduled for theatrical release on May 1, 2026. Till then, fans need to wait to witness Downey's grand comeback.
