Nitesh Kumar Sahoo

It's been two years now since the smile of 'Junior Joker' aka Rishi Kapoor faded away. Social media is getting flooded with remembrance messages for the ever-charming actor, who entertained movie lovers for quite a long time.

'Mein Shayar Toh Nahi...' This line from the famous song of Bobby marked the beginning of two young actors who have made a permanent place in the hearts of movie and music lovers. Raj Kapoor's lad, Rishi aka Chintu though appeared on screen with Mera Naam Joker as a child artist, he made his debut as the lead actor in Bobby opposite Dimple Kapadia. His smile and sweetness were not just to woo his on-screen actresses, it also helped him rise to fame making his place in everyone's heart.

In his long journey of 50 years, Rishi acted in over 150 movies. He has left a trail of success with his unparalleled performances in different movies. Apart from being the lead actor, Rishi also nailed different negative characters that earned him a different identity.

The Kapoor lad also worked in many multi-starrer movies, but every time, he distinguished himself from other actors including Millennium Star Amitabh Bachchan. He has left his marks that still movie lovers reminisce.

Rishi's posthumously released movie 'Sharmaji Namkeen' will be remembered for decades. It is not just because it was his last movie and was released almost after two years of his death, the movie will be remembered for Rishi's magical performance.

Sharmaji Namkeen: A Whole-hearted Tribute To Rishi Kapoor

Sharmaji Namkeen portrays the life situation of a middle-class retired person who aspires to serve delicious food items. Sharmaji has skills and passion for preparing mouth-watering food items; however, he suppresses his desires owing to his children. Accidentally, he gets the chance to showcase his talent at a 'kitty party' and is appreciated by all. Though he feels uncomfortable at the beginning, he enjoys his new life. The movie shows several other instances that quite resemble the life of a middle-class man.

Overall, the movie shows the pain of ignoring to follow the path of desires and presenting the unique skills to the world. Apart from that, it also shed a beam of light on the life after retirement which begins and ends with no excitement and the pain of being a widower after a certain age.

Rishi was signed for the movie but the makers were unable to complete the shooting as he got admitted to hospital and finally left for his heavenly abode. Following that, the makers initially thought of putting prosthetics on his son Ranbir Kapoor, but that didn't work out. The entire team as well as the Kapoor family wanted to complete the movie. But, they were in doldrums and even though of VFX technique. Then, it was Paresh Rawal who came forward to step into the shoes of Rishi.

Sharmaji Namkeen is a historic movie as movie lovers witnessed something for the first time in the Indian film industry, like never before. If one has watched the movie, she/he can better judge if Paresh did step into the shoes of Rishi or not. Throughout the movie, while a frame showed Rishi the next was followed by Paresh's appearance. Paresh being a prolific actor didn't let the audience feel that his character was different from Rishi's.

Undeniably, Sharmaji Namkeen is a wholehearted tribute to Rishi from his admirers, family and the entire cine industry. Rishi will forever be remembered as one of the most promising actors of Indian cinema apart from being a godfather to many aspiring actors.
