Deepika Padukone became a pan India star after she debuted in Bollywood with Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. But even before that she had already become a popular face and won the hearts of millions of Indians through her appearance in one of the hit television commercials. 

Over the years, Liril has been known to launch good faces and present beauties bathing in water. Most of these beauties went on to have a good careers in the entertainment industry. Be it Priety Zinta, Tara Sharma, or Hrishitaa Bhatt, all of these beautiful girls first became a popular faces after featuring in the Liril ad.

Deepika too made a splash when she was featured in the Liril commercial. During those days, she was more known as the daughter of famous Indian Badminton player Prakash Padukone. Importantly, it was the first time that Deeps hit the headlines.

The Padmavaat actress was just 18 years old when she shot for this Liril advertisement that showed her as a modern woman with a good career in the corporate world but still connected to her traditional roots. At that time, Deepika Padukone had said that although she has plans to enter the movies, she was more focused on her exams and was not thinking of anything else.

Later on, it was her pretty face and grace at the Lakme Fashion Week that got her the big Bollywood debut as neither Shah Rukh Khan nor Farah Khan conducted an audition before casting Deepika as the female lead. The role just landed in her lap as if she was destined to make an entry in the big Hindi film industry.

According to reports, Deepika, at that time, was representing fashion designer Wendell Rodricks at the Lakme Fashion Week. Malaika Arora was friends with Rodricks and was quite aware that SRK and Farah were looking for a new face for their next movie. That is how Malaika suggested the name of the Piku actress to the Om Shanti Om producer and director and the rest is the history.
