December 1 witnessed the release of two Hindi movies -- Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’. While ‘Animal’ is shattering all the prevailing records, ‘Sam Bahadur’ is also being received well by audiences and critics alike.

Animal is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga while Sam Bahadur is helmed by Meghna Gulzar. Both Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal are earning a lot of applause for their performance as ‘Ranvijay Singh’ and ‘Sam Manekshaw’ respectively.

However, you would be shocked to know that both Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal were not the first choice for Animal and Sam Bahadur respectively. If reports are to be believed, Meghna Gulzar who has directed films like ‘Raazi’ and ‘Chhapaak’ was considering Ranveer Singh to play the lead role in her film. Before going to Vicky Kaushal for the role of Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw, she considered Ranveer Singh for the part.

However, Ranveer Singh was busy with Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ and wasn’t sure of doing another biopic. Hence, he passed the role on. Moreover, he had also given his dates to Karan Johar’s now-shelved film ‘Takht’.

As fate would have it, the film finally landed on Vicky Kaushal’s lap and he has done his part very well. Although the film earned less than Animal, the film is receiving a lot of praise from critics.

Similarly, Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had also approached Ranveer Singh for the lead in the film. However, Ranveer felt that the role and subject were too dark so he said no to the role that eventually went to Ranbir Kapoor.

Now, fans are happy that Ranveer Singh rejected Animal because many feel that no actor could have done the role better than Ranbir Kapoor.
