Nitesh Kumar Sahoo

The cine industry is quite abuzz with the developments of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project Ramayan with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. However, a few months back reports were abuzz that the project is put on hold as the makers are not able to find a suitable actor to play the character of demon king Ravana.

However, as per the latest reports, Alia Bhatt was spotted with director Nitesh which sparked the buzz that the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress is most likely roped in as the female lead in the cinematic adaption of the Indian epic.

Along with that, reports are abuzz that Ramyana is on track and the makers are prepping to go on floors by December 2023.

Pinkvilla quoted a source close to the development as saying, “Over the last few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been spotted visiting the DNEG office, to check on the progress of Ramayana. The pre-visualization of the world has already been done and the team is now doing look tests with Ranbir to play Lord Ram.”

Further, the source added, “The purpose of the visit has been to get the right look for Ranbir as on getting it right. He will then step into the physical transformation aspect.”

The report also suggests that Ranbir and Alia have been visiting the office, which is called the "Ramayana Office" for the last few weeks. At this office in the same building, Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, Madhu Mantena, and their team have created an entire pre-visualized world of the epic.

While Ranbir is finalised to play Lord Ram, Alia will be seen as Sita. The official announcement for the same is expected to be made this year in Diwali.

The source added, “Alia was the first choice for Ramayana, but back in the day, the dates couldn’t match due to multiple reasons. But with all the delays, Nitesh and producer Madhu Mantena have gotten back to their first choice and the actress is excited to play a character that could stay with her for a lifetime. Same for Ranbir, who is charged up for this new divine journey of Shri Ram.”

As informed by the source, Nitesh and Madhu are in talks with Yash for Ravana for eight months. After all yes and no from Yash, the conversations seem to be moving in a positive direction.

“Yash is yet to sign the dotted lines, but Madhu is confident to have Yash on board the film. There are some minor issues, and once they are resolved, Nitesh and Madhu would have things on paper with Yash,” said the source.

While the look tests of Ranbir and Alia for Lord Rama and Maa Sita are going on in full swing, hopefully, Yash will be joining them soon. Yash’s coming on board for playing Ravana’s character will hopefully be confirmed in the next 15 days.

Well, if the reports are anything to go by, it would be a visual spectacle for fans of Ranbir, Alia and Yash. Most importantly, Yash stepping in as the Demon King will break several bars. Hopefully, the makers will be making an official announcement soon to bring an end to all speculations and fuel the anticipation among all.
