Rakesh Roshan reveals ‘A Bollywood couple demanded 9 vanity vans,’ but Hrithik Roshan requires...!

In recent years, the skyrocketing entourage costs of Bollywood actors have become a major concern for filmmakers, significantly inflating production budgets. Producers and directors often express frustration over actors arriving on set with a large army of staff, from personal trainers to stylists, whose expenses ultimately burden the overall cost of a film.

Shocking Demands Left Rakesh Roshan Sleepless

Recently, filmmaker Farah Khan and her cook Dilip visited Rakesh Roshan’s residence for their cooking vlog. During their conversation, Rakesh revealed a startling incident where a famous Bollywood couple demanded nine vanity vans for a shoot, so extravagant that it kept him awake all night.

Rakesh recalled receiving a call from Simi Grewal, who shared the couple’s extravagant request.

He said, "Main soya nahi us raat, kyunki maine socha, kahin Hrithik bhi to aisa nahi kar raha hai. Next day subah 7 baje, maine Susheel, Hrithik ka driver, ko call kiya aur poocha ki hum kitni vans demand karte hain. Usne bola, ‘1 hi hoti hai.’ Tab meri jaan mein jaan aayi. (I couldn’t sleep that night because I thought, maybe Hrithik isn’t doing this either. The next morning at 7 a.m., I called Susheel, Hrithik’s driver, to ask how many vans they usually request. He said, 'There’s only one.' That’s when I felt relieved.)"

The moment Rakesh heard this, he felt an immense weight lift off his shoulders, realising that Duggu’s requests were modest compared to the industry’s excesses.

Vanity Vans: Not Always the Norm

Rakesh also revealed that vanity vans were never a standard on his sets until his 2017 film Kaabil, starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam.

Farah Khan on Crew Priorities

Echoing his sentiments, Farah shared that she personally never insisted on a vanity van while choreographing, instead prioritizing better facilities for the crew and heads of departments.

She said, "I always asked, whenever I’m choreographing, the makers not to give me a vanity because I don’t leave the set anyway. I just say, give me a better loo and a vanity for all the HODs."
