Laughter King Raju Srivastava left for heavenly abode on Wednesday after battling for life for more than 40 days at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. As we know Raju had toured many cities and foreign countries to do stage shows. His fans in Odisha will be taken aback to know that he had come to Odisha too.

He had come to Odisha to be part of Tarang Cine Utsav in 2020.

With his hilarious comedy, he had won hearts at Tarang Cine Utsav without using abusive and vulgar words or insulting anybody’s faith but just with sense of humour, comic timing and mimicry.

He is the one who introduced Indian 'situational comedy' which is being followed by other comedians these days. Odisha people got to see his expertise in situational comedy at Tarang Cine Utsav. OTV goes back in time in 2020 when the Badshah of Comedy made audience present at Tarang Cine Utsav laugh to the fullest...

Soon after Raju entered the stage, he greeted people saying Jay Jagannath. However, he held Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation responsible for his delay in reaching the venue where the event was being held. He said “Soon after I landed at airport, my eyes got stuck in a hoarding in which it was written that Bhubaneswar Mahanagar Nigam welcomes you. So I thought there must be someone to welcome me. Then a taxi driver told me it is just written like that. None will come for receiving you.”

India’s greatest stand-up comedian of all time, Raju had left people laughing their heart out when he said, “I got to see a board hanging outside the house of a person in which it was written that ‘Bache Do Hi Achhe’ (It is good to have two children). I felt good to see that someone is really concerned for family planning. When I got inside the house, I was surprised to see six children playing inside the house. When I asked their father to clarify the reason behind hanging that board when he has six children, the latter said I never write wrong things. My two children are really good and two others are very naughty. That’s what I meant.”

At the event organised by Tarang Cine Productions in 2020, Raju did a twelve-minute long performance where he made everyone, including Managing Director of OTV Jagi Mangat Panda and artistes like Mahesweta Ray, Manoj Mishra, Puspa Panda, Tamanna, Sambit Acharya, Sivani Sangita, Premanand, late Rai Mohan and late Ajit Das among others laugh out loud.

Raju made everyone laugh at his hilarious jokes with strong punch lines and fine comic timing.  Here is the video of his performance at Tarang Cine Utsav:

It may be mentioned that before entering Bollywood, Raju used to do stage shows in India and abroad. He got recognition after he used to mimic and act like megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Later he went on to work in films where he did small roles. The actor was part of movies like Maine Pyar Kiya, Baazigar and Bombay to Goa. He later participated in the comedy show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, where he stood second. However, it was the spin-off show, where he was crowned the winner and got the title of King of Comedy.
