Vikrant Massey, catapulted to stardom with his remarkable performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "12th Fail," has proven his versatility as an actor.
His portrayal of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma not only won hearts but also established him as a rising star in the industry.
Meanwhile, celebrated filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani continues to enthral audiences with his cinematic prowess, recently finding success with the Shah Rukh Khan-Tapsee Pannu starrer, "Dunki."
Now, the dynamic actor-director duo is set to collaborate on an upcoming project, debunking earlier rumours of Hirani teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor once again.
Hirani's next venture is an untitled web series, featuring Vikrant Massey in the lead role. Directed by Amir Satyaveer Singh, who has previously assisted Hirani, the series delves into the realm of cybercrime, with Massey portraying a cybercrime security expert.
Contrary to speculation, Hirani is not just producing the show but also taking on the role of the showrunner.
Addressing this development, the acclaimed director expressed his excitement during an interview with News18.
"Certain stories require a long format approach and not make it into a film. The one which we are working on currently (with Vikrant Massey in the lead) is something that we found during COVID-19 times. I'll be working as a showrunner on the series, and so I'll be completely involved in the show. I am very happy about it as I am excited about the script and the way it has panned out," Hirani said
When questioned about making his OTT directorial debut.
Hirani affirmed his interest, emphasizing that the platform is secondary to the story. He stated, "Yes, I'd love to when someday I have a story to tell. But honestly, for me, the platform doesn't matter. If it is for television, it should be on TV, or if it is a long format, make it for OTT."
While the details of the web series remain under wraps, the production team plans to shoot it over a two-month schedule. Set to commence filming next month, this will mark Vikrant Massey's fourth foray into the world of web series, following his roles in ‘Mirzapur,’ ‘Broken But Beautiful,’ and ‘Criminal Justice.’
