Rajesh Khanna Vs Amitabh Bachchan: Meenakshi Seshadri recalls traits of costars
Veteran actress Meenakshi Seshadri ruled the hearts of moviegoers with her stellar performances in movies from the 80s to 90s. Her beauty, grace, charm and intoxicating smile still remain unbeatable even at the age of 60. Though she made her debut with Painter Babu, she got recognition with Hero, which emerged as a blockbuster. During her illustrious career, she worked with almost all the A-listers of Bollywood including Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, and Vinod Khanna, to name a few. However, the audience loved her pairing with Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty.
Well, recently, she opened up about her experience of working with Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha, during an interview with Lehren Retro.
Movie fanatics are well aware that Rajesh Khanna is the first superstar of Indian film industry. While he carried an image of charming, caring and loverboy image on screen, reports claimed the superstar to be egoistic and hot-headed. Even Shatrughan Sinha had the same image. Well, the Damini actress has a different opinion about the actors. During the interview, she also revealed one key lesson she learned from Amitabh Bachchan.
Undoubtedly, Sinha was infamous for arriving late on the set. However, recalling an incident, Meenakshi said that Sinha arrived on the set at 6 in the morning only to comply with her schedule.
She said, "Everyone told me that Rajesh Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha are temperamental and egoistic, but I didn't find it at all. Or they thought of me as a child and were extra nice."
Further, she added, "During the shooting of Hoshiyar in Chennai, I had to wrap up the shooting and take a flight to Mumbai to shoot another film. One scene was left with Shatrughan Sinha and I requested him to come at 6 am. He never arrives on the set that early but he came that day."
"After wrapping up, he asked me not to tell anyone about this as no one would believe that he came on the set that early," she added.
Talking about Rajesh Khanna, she recalled how the Superstar complied with her demands for rehearsals before shooting the film.
"I did two films with Rajesh Khanna, and I used to demand rehearsals, and he would come for rehearsals for me. We had many difficult scenes in the film," she added.
Meenakshi worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Shahenshah, Toofan, Akayla and Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswathi. Talking about Big B, the Dacait actress said, "I used to over-rehearse with Amitabh Bachchan. And while he would get better with every rehearsal, I would get worse. I learned a lot from Big B in terms of how to project to the audience."
