When Rajesh Khanna turned down Bigg Boss offer but...
Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna is widely regarded as the first superstar of the Indian film industry. Though his initial phase was rough, with consecutive hits, he cemented his place in the industry and the hearts of moviegoers. However, his stardom was for a short period until Amitabh Bachchan took over the title. After ruling the industry for decades, his thriving career started to decline. Kaka also ventured into the television industry and worked in a few serials. But, did you know Rajesh Khanna was approached for Bigg Boss but he turned down the offer?
In 2012, an article in Reddif by journalist Ali Peter John stated about the incident when Kaka turned down the offer of participating in Bigg Boss even though the makers were ready to pay him Rs 3.5 crore per episode. He declined the offer even though he was going through a low phase in his career.
According to the report, Rajesh Khanna had limited film opportunities during his later phase of career. It was then when he was approached to participate as a contestant on Bigg Boss. The producer of the show even offered him Rs 3.5 crore per episode. However, he declined the offer stating that 'Rajesh Khanna won't work in such shows.'
John stated in his report, "Once, the makers of Bigg Boss called me to fix a meeting with him; they wanted him in the Bigg Boss house."
But, Kaka said, "Nahin, nahin, Rajesh Khanna aise show thodi karega," stated the report.
John tried to convince him but he denied. Even after his attempt to persuade the actor, Kaka was adamant about declining.
"The Colors people told me they were willing to pay him Rs 3.5 crore for every episode he appeared in, but he said no,” he revealed in the interview.
Further, John recalled that Kaka called him back a few days later and said that he wanted to do the show. However, by then Colors had lost interest.
