Race 4 update: Saif Ali Khan to continue from where Race 2 ended, Salman Khan's Race 3 to remain standalone!

The anticipation among fans for the fourth instalment of 'Race' franchise remains quite high. The excitement doubled with the announcement of Saif Ali Khan's comeback. As per recent reports, Race 4 will continue from where Race 2 ended. And, Race 3, in which Salman Khan replaced Saif, will remain a standalone flick without any connection with other parts.

As per the latest update, the writer of Race 4, Shiraz Ahmed, who also wrote all other instalments of the Rave franchise, revealed that the filming of the fourth instalment is set to begin in January 2025.

As per the report by Bollywood Hungama, the writer confirmed that the script is nearly finished and the casting process is also close to completion. While OG Saif is already on the board, Siddharth Malhotra will be joining him. Further, the writer added that further revelations about the cast will be made by the producers, Tips Films, at the right time.

Talking about the story structure of Race 4, Ahmed added that the film will continue the narrative and characters from Race 1 and Race 2, returning to the familiar world of the earlier instalments.

Ahmed also talked about the reception of Salman Khan's Race 3. He acknowledged that the flick diverged somewhat from the franchise's established characters. However, he also said that if viewers removed 'Race'  from Race 3, they might have enjoyed it.

The audience expected a certain experience from a Race film but Race 3 offered something else, Ahmed added. Further, he explained that as Salman Khan typically doesn't play negative roles, there were considerations regarding his image and it shaped certain creative discussions. However, Ahmed said that despite the challenges they did their best to create an engaging film.

Well, based on the revelations made by Ahmed, it can be speculated that the OG star cast Race, including Saif, Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel, may reprise their roles in Race 4. Moreover, Siddharth's character could possibly be a replacement for Akshaye Khanna (Race) and John Abraham (Race 2). On the other hand, after the reception of Salman, Anil, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah's Race 3, the makers will possibly leave it there and the flick will remain a standalone having no connection with other instalments of the Race franchise.
