Priyanka Chopra still struggling in Hollywood? Citadel's failure and impact on Samantha-Varun's project

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ last release Citadel failed to trigger interest. Released on Amazon Prime Video, although the web series has been renewed for the second season Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon has now started asking questions regarding its exorbitant budget of $250 million (2000 crores).

Insider sources have revealed that Jassy wants a detailed breakup and analysis of the budget in his hand as it is one of the most massive shows from Amazon that has failed to deliver.

But this has also put a question mark on two other important things. First, the next project in the web series headlined by Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan can also come under scanner because the first venture from the franchise did not go down well.

Sam is said to be playing the role of Priyanka’s mother in the Indian version of Citadel and the series is directed by The Family Man fame director duo Raj & DK.

Since the track record of this director team is quite good, the expectations from the Citadel Indian version are also high.

For the unversed, the famous international producers Russo Brothers have bankrolled this project, and more versions are expected from this franchise soon.

Secondly, despite being a global figure, fashionista, highly successful Bollywood actress, and brand ambassador for many leading global labels, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is yet to get an entry into mainstream Hollywood cinema even after struggling for more than a decade now.

She left Bollywood at the peak of her career and made her debut on American television with Quantico. She was also seen in many other projects over the years like Baywatch, The White Tiger, The Matrix Resurrection, and more. But neither film helped her become an A-listed big star in Hollywood.

The dismal performance of Citadel once again proved that although she has immense followers and is a very good actress, she does not have the Midas touch that is so required to pull the audience to theaters or hook them to their small screens at home.

So, in a way, although PeeCee is an international actress, she is yet to become a bankable superstar in Hollywood.
