The long wait to catch a glimpse of the world of Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire is finally over. The trailer of KGF fame director Prashanth Neel’s directorial was released and has been breaking records on YouTube.

The trailer is getting mixed reviews from fans who claim it to be the remake of Prashanth Neel’s debut movie ‘Ugramm’ starring his brother-in-law Sri Murali. The movie was a huge hit during its release and rumours are rife that Salaar is its remake.

Ever since ‘Salaar’s teaser release, fans have been spotting similarities and coming up with theories linking the two films. While Ugramm showed the friendship between Agastya and Balla, Salaar is also based on the friendship between Prabhas and Pruthibiraj.

Ugramm was a huge hit during its release and completed a run of 150 days in some theatres across Karnataka. It was remade in Odia with Anubhav Mohanty as Agastya and in Marathi as Raanti starring Sharad Kelkar and Shanvi Srivastava.

However, Prashanth Neel answered if ‘Salaar’ was a remake and said, "All of my films that I make will have some shades of Ugramm. That’s my style. But, Salaar is a fresh story. It’s not a remake or adaptation of Ugramm. "

While Salaar is not a remake of Ugramm, it is likely to share some similarities given that both the movies are directed by Prashanth Neel and both feature gangster themes. However, Salaar is a much larger-scale film than Ugramm with bigger budget and star-studded cast.

Salaar is a gangster drama starring Prabhas and Shruti Haasan. It is set in the Kolar Gold Fields and is expected to be a high-octane action film.

The movie is slated to release on December 22 and clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’, directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
