Prashanth Neel 'disappointed' with Prabhas' Salaar! Here's what KGF helmer says on sequel
The massive success of the KGF franchise with Rocking Star Yash in the lead, made filmmaker Prashanth Neel a renowned name in the North belt. However, before making his pan-India debut with the KGF series, Neel was a highly successful and celebrated filmmaker in Kannada Film Industry (KFI). He made an impressive debut in KFI with Ugramm, starring Sriimurali and Hariprriya in the lead. However, he made his Telugu debut with Salaar: Part One- Ceasefire, which was a remake of Ugramm with Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. Moviegoers expected that Salaar would be massive and would likely break the box office records of KGF 2 as Prabhas had achieved the biggest milestone of Indian cinema with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. However, Salaar failed to impress a section of the audience and didn't meet their expectations. Well, not just the audience, even Neel is 'disappointed' with Prabhas' Salaar.
Earlier, (before Salaar's release) when Neel was asked why he decided to helm Salaar after the monstrous success of the KGF series, he said, "I wanted to fill the theatres and make more people see that story.”
On the first anniversary of Salaar, when Neel was asked if his wish was fulfilled, he replied, "Honestly, I am not completely happy yet.”
During a recent interview with The Indian Express, Neel revealed that his vision for Salaar wasn't properly materialised. Neel further said that he is a little disappointed with the effort he put in for the first part of Salaar and the result it yielded.
"I don’t know if I was complacent coming off KGF 2. However, ever since the release of Salaar, I decided to make Salaar 2 into one of my best movies,” said Neel.
Talking about Salaar 2, Neel confidently said that the writing he put into the sequel is one of his best works. Neel also added that he would make up for it (Salaar 1) more than he himself and the audience could imagine.
"Very few things in my life makes me this confident. Salaar 2 is unquestionably my best work,” said Neel.
Not just Neel, even actor Prithviraj earlier had confidently said that the sequel will be much bigger and it has more thrills.
Now, all eyes are on Salaar: Part Two- Shouryanga Parvam, scheduled for theatrical release in 2025. Prabhas, Prithviraj, Eswari Rao, Shruti Haasan, Bobby Simha, and Jagapathi Babu will reprise their respective roles in the sequel.
On the other hand, Neel is currently busy with Jr NTR's next NTR 31, tentatively titled Dragon. Well, fans can hope the best from Neel as he 'had made a promise with KGF 2, and kept it'. Moreover, Neel also has KGF: Chapter 3 lined up with Yash.
