Tollywood actor and Baahubali fame Prabhas' hit the theatres with Radhe Shyam on March 11 after a long gap. Everyone had pinned high hopes in Darling with Radhe Shyam which also marked his comeback to the romantic genre after a long gap. However, many once again got disheartened after Radhe Shyam failed to impress a major chunk of the audience. This is the second movie after Saaho that also probably bombed at the Box Office.
Tollywood actor Prabhas is a big name in the south with multiple hit movies which turned out to be cash fetchers for the makers. To name a few, Mirchi, Rebel, Darling, Billa, Chandramouli (Chhatrapati) and No 1 Mr Perfect are a few of his landmark movies that fans still cherish of. With magnum opuses of the Baahubali franchise, the Tollywood actor left his footprint in Indian cinema and also earned fame overseas.
However, the recent release Radhe Shyam, which also stars Pooja Hegde as the lady lead, tumbled which was not expected by his fans. Prabhas is one of the busiest actors in the Indian cinema with multiple big projects in the pipeline including Salaar, Adipurush, Project K and Spirit.
Possible Reasons Of Radhe Shyam's 'Debacle'
While Radhe Shyam has reached 9 days of its release, the total collection stands at Rs 191.14 crore at the worldwide box office. Along with this, the film is inching closer towards Rs 200 crore club, while the collection on Day 9 is yet to be figured out. Though the collection looks decent, it is not what was expected from the Baahubali fame.
High Hopes
Hopes of fans remained high from Prabhas as Darling still rules their hearts. After a long gap, the Rebel star made a comeback to the romantic genre. After the roaring success of Baahubali series, Prabhas came up with action movie Saaho starring Shraddha Kapoor. However, the action movie couldn't meet the hopes of fans. Similar is the situation with Radhe Shyam.
Prabhas' Looks
Prabhas physique was quite stunning and enough to drive anyone crazy. However, he had gained more weight in Saaho. His new bulky figure didn't go well with a set of audience. Though, it seems, Prabhas has shed down few pounds, his captivating look still remains missing in Radhe Shyam. This could be one of the many reasons for which the movie didn't go well as expected.
Story & Narration
Story is certainly the most crucial part of any project. The story plot of Radhe Shyam presents Prabhas as Vikramaditya, a palmist, who does not believe in relationships. However, he falls for Prerana (Pooja). In course of time, the duo start dating each other while he had predicted he won't fall in love. However, there is no visible chemistry between Prabhas and Pooja. Moreover, the director though has added some comedy sequences, it doesn’t evoke any kind of laughter.
Though the story seemed to be interesting, the narration was considered to be quite slow. A shallow story and lacklustre screenplay bombarded the hopes of Prabhas fans. Though the movie's collection is decent, it drastically failed to captivate the movie lovers for its slow flow. None of the national media gave the movie over 2.5 rating of 5.
Movie Characters
Though the story revolved around Prabhas and Pooja, there are several other characters in the movie. However, the characters had least part to play throughout the movie. It seemed to many that the side characters were unnecessarily inducted in the movie and their part in the movie was not up to the mark. The director could have focused on these characters and speed up the story flow with them.
Hindi Accent
Prabhas being a south Indian certainly doesn't have a clean Hindi accent. As per reports, the Billa actor has given high efforts to fill into the shoes in Radhe Shyam, unlike Baahubali, to woo his Bollywood fans. He employed a Hindi language tutor to attain perfection in his pronunciation and accent. Though his efforts are clearly seen in the movie, however, his Hindi accent couldn't impress all.
Will Radhe Shyam's Performance Impact On Darling's Other Flicks
It is quite evident that South actors are leaving a mark in the Indian cinema with blockbuster pan-India movies. Among all, roaring success of Prabhas sprawled overseas followed by KGF Chapter 1 and Pushpa: The Rise. With such a strategy, makers of several upcoming movies like RRR, KGF Chapter 2, Salaar, Pushpa: The Rule, are eyeing for a larger collection at the worldwide Box Office.
However, Prabhas' Saaho and Radhe Shyam couldn't meet up to the mark of the audience.
Meanwhile, Darling has several big-budget movies in a row including Salaar, Adipurush, Project K and Spirit. The makers have made high bids on these movies with the roaring popularity of Prabhas. Earlier, Prabhas was trolled for his bulky figure and following that several rumours circulated on social media that Prabhas will be shading weight to meet the requirements in the movie.
Hopes of fans will certainly remain high from Prabhas for a long time. Focusing on all these snags that are most likely responsible for the poor performance of Radhe Shyam, Darling Prabhas and the makers of his upcoming movies could possibly prevent from repeating the scenario.
