Rebel star Prabhas has been ruling the box office. The futuristic sci-fi film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has already entered the Rs 900 crore and moving fast forward towards the Rs 1000 crore club. The Nag Ashwin directorial has been running successfully since its release in theatres on June 27.

However, the high-budget movie dipped to single digits for the first time since its release. On Day 13, the Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan and Disha Patnai film minted only Rs 9 crore in India, the lowest ever since its release.

The Hindi version collected Rs 5.75 crore followed by Telugu Rs 2.05 crore while Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions earned Rs 0.6 crore, Rs 0.1 crore and Rs 0.5 crore respectively. Now, the movie has collected over Rs 529.45 crore in India while the worldwide gross is slowly moving towards Rs 1000 crore.

Though the film saw a steep drop in numbers, it is magically marching towards Rs 1000 crore at the box office. Currently, Kalki is the 10th Indian movie to surpass the Rs 900 crore. The mythological science fiction has left behind Prabhas’ previous films like Salaar, Radhe Shyam and Saaho.

Among other movies that have crossed the Rs 900 crore movies are Dangal, Baahubali 2, RRR, KGF: Conclusion, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Animal, Secret Superstar, Pathaan and Jawan.

Inspired by Hindu scriptures, Kalki 2898 AD features a dystopian world and is set in the year 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will have a sequel owing to the success of the first part.
