Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has set the box office on fire with Rs 500 crore in worldwide collections. According to Sacnilk.com, the Prabhas-starrer earned a staggering Rs 85 crore in India on Sunday alone. With this, the dystopian science fiction film interwoven with Hindu mythology has amassed approximately Rs 302 crore in India, bringing its worldwide collection to approximately Rs 500 crore in its opening weekend.

Vyjayanti Movies, the production house behind Kalki, shared the official update, stating, “500 crores 🔥🔥🔥🔥 #Kalki2898AD #EpicBlockbusterKalki.”

The Telugu version contributed the most with a record collection of Rs 162.1 crore, followed by Rs 110.5 crore in Hindi, Rs 18.3 crore in Tamil, Rs 9.7 crore in Malayalam, and Rs 1.8 crore in Kannada. The sci-fi film has been breaking one record after another since its release on June 27.

Not only in India but also in other countries, 'Kalki' is performing exceptionally well. It became the highest-grossing Indian film in North America during its opening weekend. The highly anticipated film had a massive opening day, earning an impressive Rs 191 crore on its first day.

Currently, it stands as the third highest Indian opener, with 'RRR' leading with collections of Rs 223 crore, followed by Prabhas’ 'Baahubali 2', which grossed over Rs 217 crore. Produced on a massive budget of Rs 600 crore, this mega-budget film blends science fiction with Indian mythology.

With good word of mouth, the film is expected to perform well in the coming weeks. It has rejuvenated the stardom of Prabhas, who had seen a downturn due to back-to-back box office disappointments in his last few movies such as 'Saaho', 'Radhe Shyam', and 'Adipurush'.

In addition to Prabhas, the movie also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and others in pivotal roles. The rebel star also has 'Animal' fame director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 'Spirit', where he will be seen as a police officer.

Furthermore, he is set to appear in 'Raja Saab', a horror comedy film, alongside projects like 'Salaar 2' and a sequel to 'Kalki'.
