Prabhas’ ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ beats ‘RRR’ to become 3rd highest grossing South movie in Hindi

Rebel star Prabhas’ futuristic sci-fi ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has overtaken Ram Charan and Jr. NTR’s ‘RRR’ to become the third highest-grossing South Indian movie at the Hindi box office. On its 25th day, the Nag Ashwin-directorial surpassed SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’.

Now, Kalki is just behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Rocky Bhai Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. Kalki has collected a whopping Rs 276 crores approximately while KGF 2 has collected 435 crores with Baahubali 2 standing tall at the top with Rs 511 crores net.

Like the Telugu versions, the Hindi version of the Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani-starrer is getting loads of love from the audience. The mythological drama earned around Rs 4.85 crores net collection on its 4th Sunday, giving tough competition to Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk’s ‘Bad Newz’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’.

If the good word of mouth continues, the movie will continue to rock the theaters till August 15. As there is no big releases till Independence Day, Kalki will continue to be shown in movie theaters and will break a few more records.

Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki is having an excellent run in the Hindi version and may finish around Rs 300 crores. With this Prabhas has six films in the top 10 highest grosser for any South Indian actor.

Meanwhile, Prabhas has entered the Rs 1000 crore club for the second time, seven years after making box office history with Baahubali 2. With this, Prabhas now equals Shah Rukh Khan and SS Rajamouli’s record of celebs with two films in the Rs 1000 crore club.

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone is the only actress to have three Rs 1000 crore club movies with Kalki, Jawan and Pathaan. Apart from Deepika, megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani also became part of the Rs 1000 crore club with Kalki.
