Last year, Pooja Hegde was the highest-paid actress in South Indian movies and was also one of the very few regional actresses who had good Bollywood flicks in her kitty. Suddenly a few months later, the scenario seems to have changed. Post-release of Pushpa: The Rise, both Rashmika Mandanna and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have become a hot favourite among the audience across the country and now they are being offered movies with A-listed Bollywood superstars.
On the other hand, things seem to have gone downhill for Pooja. Her recent movies have been declared flops or mediocre hits and that has certainly affected her stardom in the film industry. It seems the parameters based on which she chose her projects were not correct. She mostly chose the movies based on the remuneration and the lead stars or banners. However, Pooja missed one of the most important aspects which need to be considered to become a big star and make an impact on the audience. And that was the span of her role in the movie or the character she was playing.
Be it Radhe Shyam, Beast, or her recent release opposite Ram Charan-Acharya, the role of Pooja was not something that can be remembered or was important for the movie. All these roles could have been easily done by any other actress and hence, they were not something that could win the hearts of her fans.
Instead, they were very much disappointed with her roles in both Beast and Acharya. On the other hand, Rashmika as Srivalli has certainly made a good impression. On the other hand, Samantha has some very good movies like Shakuntalam which offered her vast scope to prove her mettle.
Some of the upcoming movies of Pooja Hegde include Cirkus with Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez. Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Ranveer will be in a double role leaving very little scope for Pooja as she will have to share the screen as the female lead with Jacqueline. She also has Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali with Salman Khan. Although he is a big star, more often the actresses do not have much scope for showcasing their talent in Sallu Bhai’s movies.
So, if Pooja wants to bring her career back on track, she needs to be careful from henceforth about choosing the roles and movies.
