Parineeti Chopra
Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, known for films like ‘Ishaqzaade’ and ‘Golmaal Again’ did not always thrive in luxury. Rather, she recently revealed the striking contrasts of her upbringing, involving financial struggles with unexpected luxury.
In a candid chat with Mashable Middle East, she reflected on how her childhood shaped her present self, which made her adaptable and strong.
Growing up in Ambala, the actress’ family faced tight financial constraints. At times, she shared how her father, unable to afford birthday cakes, would buy a single piece of rasgulla or rasmalai for her to cut as a makeshift cake.
Instead of looking down at them, she described these moments as humble yet filled with love, emphasizing her parents’ efforts to create joy despite limited means.
In stark contrast, Parineeti Chopra’s maternal grandparents in Nairobi, Kenya, lived a life of affluence. Every summer, they flew her and her brothers to Kenya in business class. For two months, she experienced luxury, a world far away from Ambala’s simplicity.
Parineeti Chopra credits her childhood duality for her ability to thrive in any situation. Moving between these situations, she learned to connect with people from all walks of life. In the same talks, she added that this upbringing made her and her brothers socially flexible, valuing relationships over material comforts, all of which eventually shaped her career in Bollywood, where adaptability is key.
