The Supreme Court, on Monday, took note of comments made by YouTuber Samay Raina regarding the 'India's Got Latent' controversy, during his live show in Canada. The remarks followed a viral video from his YouTube show that sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against both Raina and his fellow YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia in various cities.

While hearing a petition filed by Ranveer Allahbadia, the Court referred to Raina's comments without naming him directly. "One of them went to Canada and spoke about all of this," the Court observed. The remark came after Raina made a joke about the controversy during his performance in Canada.

What Did Supreme Court Say:

Justice Surya Kant, addressing the matter, remarked, "These youngsters are being oversmart...they think we are an outdated generation probably...one of them has gone to Canada and spoke there...they don't know the jurisdiction which this Court enjoys and what probably can be done...We don't want to because they are young, we understand."

In February, comedian Samay Raina made his first public appearance since the 'India’s Got Latent' episode became embroiled in controversy. During his show in Edmonton, Raina humourously referenced the scandal, thanking the audience for "paying" his legal fees through ticket purchases.

How Did Fans React:

A fan, Shubham Dutta, shared a post on social media platform, Facebook, detailing how, despite visible stress, Raina managed to maintain his rapport with the audience. Dutta noted that, during the performance, Raina made a joking reference to the ongoing issue, saying, "Iss show pe bahut mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai (There will be many moments in this show where you might think I could say something really funny, but in those moments, just remember BeerBiceps, brother).”

Raina’s show concluded with him saying, "Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon (Maybe my time is bad right now, but remember, my friends—I am the time).”

Supreme Court On Ranveer Allahbadia:

In a separate but related development, the Supreme Court today allowed Ranveer Allahbadia to resume hosting his podcast, The Ranveer Show, but with a strict condition. The Court has directed that he ensure the podcast maintains appropriate standards of morality and decency for audiences of all ages.

"As of now, petitioners were restrained from airing any shows. Subject to the petitioner furnishing an undertaking that his podcast shows will maintain the desired standards of morality and decency so that viewers of any age group can watch, the petitioner is permitted to resume the Ranveer Show," the Court ruled.

The Court had earlier granted Allahbadia interim protection from arrest, under several conditions, including a prohibition on his appearance on any show.
