Many South Indian movies were released on OTT platforms in the last couple of months. Some movies, instead of waiting for a big-screen release, even opted for direct release on the digital platforms. Even as original series and scripts in Hindi made a mark, it was interesting to see the dominance of the South Indian movies in the digital space.

The south movies with their strong storyline, unique concepts and brilliant acting have left a mark on the viewers. Here are some of the best south movies which you can watch on OTT.

Minnal Murali 

Netflix’s Minnal Murali will not disappoint you a bit. 'Minnal Murali' is the story of a village boy Jaison, played by Tovino Thomas, who acquires superhuman abilities and becomes a superhero overnight. What follows is a tale of him accepting his powers and fighting for the greater good. Tovino Thomas' portrayal as a local superhero in the Basil Joseph film has been appreciated by the audience and critics.

Jai Bhim

Amazon Prime's Jai Bhim starring superstar Suriya is one of the most-watched films on Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by true events that happened in Tamil Nadu in the early 1940s, the film tells the moving story of an upright lawyer coming to the aid of poor, defenceless people from the Irular community with no means to stand up to the might of an inhuman police force that seeks to exploit their helplessness and audaciously commits atrocity after atrocity on them with impunity.

Written and directed by Tha. Se. Gnanavel, 'Jai Bhim' stars Suriya in the lead along with Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan, Manikandan, and Lijo Mol Jose in pivotal roles.

Joji

The Malayalam crime drama "Joji" is loosely based on Shakespeare's Macbeth was widely appreciated by the audience. The film's plot revolves around a wealthy family of three sons and a father living in the countryside of Kerala. Fahadh Faasil in the titular role as Joji has a lasting impression with his layered and brilliant performance.

Sarpatta Parambarai

Sarpatta Parambarai is sports drama by Pa.Ranjith Pa.Ranjith. Set during the 1980s, the film revolve around a clash between two clans namely Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai in North Chennai, which also showcases the boxing culture in the locality and the politics involved in it. The film also starred Pasupathy, Dushara Vijayan, John Vijay amongst others.

Kurup 

Srinath Rajendran's Kurup and is a real-life story of Kerala's most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup who is absconding after murdering a film representative Chacko to embezzle the insurance money by scripting his own death. 'Kurup' is reportedly influenced by a German crime novel. Dulquer Salmaan is flawless as ‘Kurup’, portraying the different shades to perfection.
